What irritates me, is people are using this word like it's a bad thing. See, those people who don't have much money, or work in blue collar jobs that make minimum wage are not necessarily lazy. In fact, I think they work harder than most of us, white collared workers, and get paid less. You see, the "american dream" is not really a dream. Most people living this dream get their fortunes of money, by not necessarily earning it. There are some that do though. But I ask, why should those who are so lucky to make like that, live high off the hog, while those you may be working just equally, but just down on luck, live the american craphole. No form of single government is perfect, but I believe what is best for everyone would be an economy that is 75% Socialism and 25% Capitalism. I don't know how it would work, and there probably isn't many people that do. But I believe it has something to do with the progressive tax system we have. Those who make more money, should have a higher tax, because tax is based on the ability to pay. After you pay taxes, you're still doing pretty good, so what you only get to keep 150 of that 250 thousand dollars a year. I lived in a household of under 30 a year my entire childhood and young adult life, I would say having that much money is still doing pretty good. The thing is, however, that tax that is collected should be distributed based on income as well. 10% of the population hold 90% of the wealth. So let's say you make 250,000 a year. Let's say you pay a 40% tax, so that's 100,000 in taxes. That is distributed by income level to the remaining 90% of the population. Say this family that makes 30,000 a year receives a portion of the 100,000, let's 10,000 of it, nine other families receive that same amount based on one person's taxes. that means that these families will now have 40,000 for the year, and extra 10,000 to spend on there family and help live closer to that america dream. They make 40,000 while you still make 150,000. Not a complete re-distribution, but not all capitalism as well. I think something like that could work. That’s socialism!
